Are you an artist or designer with an interest in life sciences? We are happy to invite you to propose a project for the Bio Art & Design Award 2020!
The Bio Art & Design Award (BAD Award) is a unique competition for artists and designers who use bio art and bio design to push the boundaries of art and science. The winners of the BAD Award 2020 each receive €25,000 to realise their project in collaboration with a prominent Dutch research institution. Each team has five months to realise their project. MU exhibits the results from these collaborations at the end of 2020.
The Bio Art & Design Award highlights and explores exciting new intersections among design, artistic practice and the Life Sciences. The Award is a product of collaboration between ZonMw, MU and BioArt Laboratories. The BAD Award aims to manifest the creative potential of the life sciences to a broad audience. The prize-winning projects demonstrate how bioart and biodesign can profoundly influence our lives and alter the way we view the world.
To be eligible for an award you must have graduated no longer than five years ago from a design or art academy at either Masters or Bachelors level. Applicants are encouraged to relate their proposals to recent advances in the Life Sciences, including those within specialties such as ecology, biomedicine, big data, and genomics.
Please read the information about the open call, research groups and regulations carefully before submitting an application on the BAD Award website. Submit your proposal by Thursday 30 January 2020 at the latest.
