Time Sharing Urbanism

Affects on urbanisation by open radiosystems in connection with air traffic

October, 1998

The exhibition was the reflection of a long-term study of urban development in Australia, carried out by Peter Trummer (Austria, 1964) and Penelope Dean (Australia, 1967). Trumner and Dean investigated to what extent urbanisation is affected by open radiosystems in connection with air traffic. The title Time Sharing Urbanism refers to the simultaneous use of urban projects by a number of people over a certain period of time through radio and air traffic networks. Demonstrating the feasibility of visualising and elucidating this form of urbanisation, Trummer and Dean created a step-by-step picture of this new form of urbanisation by means of scores of charts, diagrams and computer animations.
