He is Design Academy Eindhoven’s new trump card and the first foreign artistic director of the internationally acclaimed breeding ground of Dutch Design. Operating from Genova, Italy, architecture critic and curator Joseph Grima (40) made his name in recent years with Space Caviar, an architecture and research studio he co-founded with Design Academy alumnus Tamar Shafrir in 2013. In the meantime he has been a much-discussed guest curator at Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk and the Istanbul Design Biennial, among other events, and director of the Ideas City Festival in New York. His view of the world is characterised by the conviction that the omnipresent technological innovation is not about technology in itself but mainly represents a cultural revolution. This revolution has far-reaching social and political consequences for media and employment, for who we are and how we live, learn and make our homes. This evening we meet with Jospeh Grima to learn more about him, about his motivation and inspiration, and what brings him to Eindhoven. Of course we asked him to bring along some of this year’s most interesting Design Academy graduates
