Create out Loud #7 Winy Maas

Create out Loud #7 Winy Maas

architect, co-founder of MVRDV and ambassador of DDW 2017

Around the turn of the millennium Eindhoven got thoroughly acquainted with the work of MVRDV. In 1999 they Zes Steden/Six Cities, their first major solo exhibition held at MU, which only just existed for a year at the time and was still housed in De Witte Dame. A few years later the new Effenaar building came into being. For this year’s DDW they are back with a bulging portfolio of over 800 projects and six new interventions for the exploration of future cities, set up together with Winy Maas’ other brain-child, The Why Factory. From Hong Kong to Delft and from Boston to Zürich, Maas prepares young talents for their role as designers of the future. In this evening’s talk with him, we hope to get to the heart of questions like what we can expect of the city and what we should expect. And who knows: tonight he might just as well carry off a Dutch Design Award for the magnificent STAIRS that MVRDV built in Rotterdam last summer to provide a whole new perspective on the city.

Create Out Loud will be presented by Isolde Hallensleben and recorded on audio only.
