Workshop Technofeminist Cross-Readings

Workshop Technofeminist Cross-Readings

By Computer Grrrl artist Manetta Berends

In this workshop we will dive into the collection of technofeminist manifestos that are presented in the Computer Grrrls exhibition. Together we will follow a set of cross-readings created by the TF-IDF algorithm, a digital artefact that has been important for the early search engines on the internet and is designed by female computer scientist Karen Spärck Jones in 1972. We will discover how the algorithm calculates its results and do a hands-on exercise that engages with the cross-readings it produces.
