Hexasynth | MU X Cinekid

Hexasynth | MU X Cinekid

Create a visual soundscape in your classroom

For the third time in a row, MU has joined forces with Cinekid. Every year, they offer an artist duo the chance to create a new artwork on commission. After Generation XYZ and RGB Together, it was Hexasynth that shined during the Cinekid Festival 2021. In the near future, the installation will go on tour to different schools.

The 'synthesizer for kids' is a work by Max Frimout & Gabey Tjon A Tham. By jointly creating a visual soundscape, children learn how complex programming language works. Together they play on a hexagonally shaped machine table, that looks like the control panel of a spaceship. Just like the code of a computer programme, every action influences everybody else and interreacts, which you can instantly hear, see and feel.
